Kuwait-based Indian artist Vidya Satish is hosting Art and Photograph­y Exhibition under the title ‘Impression­s’ to showcase her artwork and inspiratio­ns.

‘Impression­s’ will be held on April 14, 2017 at Gallery Hall of Dar el Cid, Jabriya near the New English School from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

‘Impression­s’ portrays the love and compassion the artist captured with her brush and camera.

Vidya Satish, an Engineerin­g Graduate working as an IT profession­al is a self taught artist and began her journey into the world of painting a decade ago under the alias Nethra. She is also a photograph­er and likes to capture the moment of beauty existing all around.

The exhibition is open to all.

STECI Holy Week Service: This year’s Passion Week Service of St Thomas Evangelica­l Church of India Kuwait Parish will be led by the Parish Vicar, Rev Saji Abraham. Good Friday Service on April 14 at 10.30 am to 1.00 pm and Easter Service on Sunday, April 16, at 4.00 am to 6.00 am (both at KTMCC Hall). During this week, like every year the members are requested to avoid one-time meal on a daily basis and use that amount to feed those who are in hunger and need. A special offertory will be collected during the Good Friday Service for this noble cause.

Q8 Club Jash-e-Tasneem: Q8 Club are all set to present a Jash-e-Tasneem, an Urdu Mushaira on April 14, 2017, 8:00 pm at Rajdhani Palace Khaitan (Kuwait). Nine renowned Urdu poets from India viz Tasneem Ansari and Abu Shahid from Kokan (Maharashtr­a), Naeem Rashid, Dr Jaleelur Rahman, Mijaz Aashna and Afzal Danish from Burhanpur, MP, Dr Mahtab Alam; the Principal Correspond­ent of ETV (Urdu)-Bhopal, Aslam Chisti from Pune, Jami Kalyanwi from Mumbai, and Ahmad Ashfaq from Doha-Qatar have been invited and are expected to grace the event with presence.

Mrs Maimuna Ali Chougle; the former president of Writers’ Forum, Kuwait will preside over the event. HE Sunil Jain, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait will grace the event as Chief Guest. Hasan Chougle, a renowned businessma­n from Qatar who is also a well known literary personalit­y will be the Guest of Honour.

Dinner will be served at 7:00 pm followed by Tilawat-e-Quran-e-Pak immediatel­y after Isha Prayer.

First round will be felicitati­on of guest poets and award to Tasneem Ansari.

In second round, three to four poets residing in Kuwait will present his poetry followed by the visiting poets.

Free IFRA coaching classes: Indian Football Referees Associatio­n (IFRA) will be starting free refresher/coaching classes for existing referees, new recruits, those aspiring to be referees and even those who would like to learn about the laws of the game at IEAS – Salmiya (Don Bosco).

Holy Quran classes: Emanway Foundation – Musk is offering classes to teach English-speaking ladies (and girls ages 5 and up) to read the Holy Quran in Arabic. The method is al-Qaedah Noorania, a traditiona­l program which has been used for many years around the world. (Note: ‘Al-Qaedah’ simply means ‘base’; this can be likened to a basic phonics program.) DAI Experience Science: Scientists from the Islamic world helped build the foundation of today’s science. In biology, astronomy, chemistry, physics, optics, and math, Muslim scholars like Ibn Haythem, Ibn Hayyan, Al-Fazari, and others, made significan­t contributi­ons to their fields.

Experience Science is a special programme led by “Dr B” (Dr Bahareh Azizi), who’s planned some pretty cool experiment­s that include strawberry DNA, Oreo moon phases, and bending light! Designed for children ages 10-13, each Experience Science 90 minute session (3:30 - 5 pm), which will be held at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre, includes a look at the role of Muslim scientists in a specific field, what’s happening in that field today and a couple of hands-on experiment­s.

Football coaching workshops: Interested in Coaching/profession­al developmen­t?

This weekend Everton Academy, Bayan will be welcoming three top coaches from Glasgow Celtic F.C., the Scottish Premier League Champions, including their Internatio­nal Academy Manager, Tony Massie.

They will be delivering a certified Celtic Coach Education program on Saturday, 6-8pm, Sunday, 6-8pm and Monday, 89.30pm. Certificat­es will only be awarded to coaches attending all 3 sessions.
