NEW DELHI, April 16, (Agencies): Delhi Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by 51 runs in their first Indian Premier League home match on Saturday, and Kolkata Knight Riders went top of the table with a 17-run victory over defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.

England’s Sam Billings (55) hit his second IPL half century and New Zealand left-hander Corey Anderson’s brisk 39 off 22 balls gave Daredevils a strong total of 188-6.

Billings hit nine fours before departing in the 13th over.

Anderson and Pat Cummins (12) provided a lively finish to the innings when they smashed Sandeep Sharma (1-41) for 19 runs in the last over.

Kuwait’s Al-Rasheed ranks 3rd at Slovakia equestrian championship. Kuwait’s rider Talal Al-Rashed has ranked 3rd and won the bronze medal of the Samorin equestrian endurance championship for juniors held in Slovakia, Al Farwaniyah Equestrian Club said on Sunday.

Al-Rashed covered the 120-km track in 9.30 hours, with average of 16.25 kms per hour, he told KUNA by phone from Bratislava. The competition was supervised by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI).

For him, this is an achievement in his first ever international participation, to be added to the several local titles he holds.

Al-Rashed thanked the Public Authority for Youth and Al Farwaniyah Equestrian Club for their support to the Kuwaiti riders, prompting him and his fellow horsemen to work harder for more achievements.

Scores of horsemen and women from around the world took part in the tournament that wrapped up its competitions Saturday evening. (KUNA)
