MEW eyes ‘mechanism’ to record rate of power usage
‘Reform board of SME fund’
KUWAIT CITY, April 20: Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Essam Al-Marzouk has given instructions to set up a mechanism for recording the rate of electricity consumption based on the area of each house in order to rationalize the consumption, reports Aljarida daily quoting informed sources.
They said the ministry will set up a mechanism for reducing electricity consumption mainly by raising awareness.
In a related context, the sources affirmed that Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) will install tools for rationalizing water consumption in nearly 5,000 housing units in coordination with Ministry of Electricity and Water, adding that this proposal has been approved by minister Al-Marzouk.
Meanwhile, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting State Minister for Youth Affairs Khalid Al-Rawdhan has issued a decision to re-form the board of Kuwait National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development which will be headed by Abdullah Hamad Al-Joua’an and his deputy Meshal Al-Wazzan and will have Ahmad Bushahri, Marzouk Al-Mutairi and Mohammad Jafar as members, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The minister rejected to restore the old board headed by Dr Mohammad Al-Zuhair whose term is due to end in July.
Regarding the photographs that went viral on social media of a newly constructed building adjoining an electrical substation in Riggae area, Head of the Technical Committee at the Municipal Council Fahd Al-Sane’ wondered how this catastrophe was allowed, affirming that those responsible for the violations in the building will be held accountable, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a press statement, he urged the concerned bodies to investigate how this was allowed and how the license was granted.
Al-Sane’ also urged for launching a speedy process in finding out the details behind such suspicious buildings that are a clear violation of the applied regulations.
He said those who erred in this problem, whether the owner of the building or the contractor or those who facilitated the licensing, will be held accountable.
