RAMALLAH, April 25, (KUNA): The applications of 180 Palestinian teachers, eager to seek jobs in Kuwait, are under evaluation, said officials who are part of a Kuwaiti delegation visiting Palestine Tuesday.

Speaking to KUNA, Undersecretary at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education Fatma Al-Kanderi said that the applicants would go through a written exam, which will be followed by an interview to determine whether they would be getting the job.

She added that Kuwait was keen on recruiting Palestinian teachers, hoping that the procedures to acquire the services of the applicants will run smoothly.

On his part, Administrator at the Ministry of Education Fahad AlGais revealed that the Palestinian authorities were in contact with the Israeli government to make sure that the procedures would not be interrupted.

The contracts with the Palestinian teachers will be of an open kind, said the Kuwaiti official who added that this was not the first time that Kuwait sought the services of Palestinian educators, noting that in the past Palestinians were prominent employees at Kuwaiti educational facilities.

Expressing gratitude to the Kuwaiti gesture, Undersecretary at the Palestinian Education Ministry Basri Saleh said that the step to accept Palestinians into the Kuwaiti educational system was important to reinforce cooperation between Kuwait and Palestine.

Hopefully this type of cooperation would continue in the future to achieve the mutual interest of Palestinians and Kuwaitis, said the Palestinian official.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah received the Kuwaiti delegation earlier with the meeting focusing on bolstering relations between Kuwait and Palestine within the educational domain.

The Kuwaiti educational delegation began its visit last Friday and will continue its mission to recruit Palestinian teachers until Saturday.
