Iraqi invasion of Kuwait (PAAC) Khaled Al-Mudaf indicated that Kuwait had reacted positively to the resolution­s that the committee took during the last meeting in November of 2016.

The committee called on both Kuwait and Iraq to seek means to facilitate the compensati­on procedure, he said, adding that PAAC took a decision in 2014 to allow Iraqis to postpone compensati­ons due to the dire economic and security situations in the fellow Arab country. In between 2015 and 2016, the UNCC and Kuwait continued to take decisions to postpone the Iraqi compensati­ons due several issues connected with the security situation in Iraq, said the Kuwaiti official.

He affirmed that his country was willing to continue cooperatio­n with the UN to facilitate and ease the procedures for Iraq to pay its compensati­ons to Kuwait on damages suffered during the invasion in 1990.
