‘PAAAFR has dealt with 65 pc of remarks raised against it’

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri fulfilled his promise to make necessary changes in the Public Authority for Agricultur­al Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) based on the observatio­ns made by the State Audit Bureau, reports Al-Rai daily.

In this regard, Al-Jabri issued a number of decisions including referring the Head of Informatio­n Technology Department and two employees to the Public Prosecutio­n over accusation­s of squanderin­g the public funds. He also deducted five-day salary of the head of the Cosmetic Agricultur­e Department, a supervisor and 12 employees over negligence in their duties.

Earlier, Al-Jabri had given one-week grace period to the PAAAFR administra­tion for dealing with 50 remarks specified in the 2016 report of the State Audit Bureau.

actions against 12 members of a committee that was tasked to respond to the State Audit Bureau’s report but failed to do so. This matter put PAAAFR in a critical situation and led to cancelatio­n of its budget for the current

year.

Al-Jabri addressed the State Audit Bureau, informing it that PAAAFR has dealt with 65 percent of the remarks that were raised against it, and will soon hold a meeting to tackle the rest

of the remarks. The final report will be referred to the parliament’s Budgets and Final Accounts Committee in its next meeting in order to approve the budget of PAAAFR for the fiscal year 2016/2017.
