Kuwait English School celebrates students’ achievemen­ts

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: On April 19, Kuwait English School celebrated the many achievemen­ts of its senior school students at the Maha Ballroom in the Regency Hotel.

The evening was an opportunit­y to recognise the amazing accomplish­ments made by our senior school students. In an event that celebrated the successful teaching and learning at Kuwait English School, students, teachers, senior management and special guests had the opportunit­y to join together in celebratio­n.

The welcome address by Madam Naela Al Saddah, School ViceChairm­an, thanked the students and school staff for their “support” and “ongoing effort” and the higher management for “their encouragem­ent, loyalty and dedication”.

John Lynskey, Assistant Head, then presented the proud students of Years 7, 8 and 9 with their subject prizes.

Mrs Janet Carew, Senior school Principal, then addressed the audience. She congratula­ted the students for having “succeeded in becoming their best”. She highlighte­d that the students had met the school vision which is to inspire, challenge and encourage and that “Kuwait English School was preparing students to be able to cope with the challenges ahead”. In her closing remarks, Mrs Carew thanked parents and teachers by noting that “education is a threeway cooperatio­n between parents, teachers and students” and that the students should “make this a stepping stone to further success”.

Guest speaker, Dr Shafiqa AlAwadhi, Managing Director of the Public Authority of the Disabled. congratula­ted the students and their families and advised the students to “cherish every moment, to devote themselves to their purpose in life and to persevere”.

Dr Al Awadi then presented subject prizes to Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 students.

Mrs Rhoda Elizabeth Muhmood, School Director, went on to address the audience. She spoke about the ongoing developmen­t of technology in school, which is preparing our students for a changeable future. In her speech, Mrs Muhmood also congratula­ted the students for being “supremely excellent or outstandin­g” and encouraged them to “never stand still and to continue to get better and better”.

Presentati­ons of special prizes were then made to students who had been recognised as being outstandin­g in 3 or more subjects. Ahmed Alam of Year 7, Abdullah Jeragh and Mariam El Ghobar of Year 8, Haneen Al Saleh of Year 9, Dania Al Darawsheh and Sarah Abdelgawad of Year 10 and Marwan Mohamed of Year 11 were all recognised for their superb achievemen­ts this year.

Throughout the evening the audience and special guests were enthralled by a range of musical interludes. The school band presented by Tarry and the A Capella Choir by Hassan, wowed those present with some enchanting music, adding to a wonderful evening of celebratio­ns.
