Kuwait, Columbia seek closer legal ties

Kuwait to showcase efforts to fight terror

VIENNA, May 23, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Minister of Justice Dr Faleh Al-Azab met with his Columbian counterpar­t Enrique Gil Botero on Tuesday to examine strategies to deepen cooperatio­n between both nations on legal and judicial affairs.

Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of a session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), Al-Azab said that his rendezvous with the Columbian Minister of Justice provided an opportunit­y to exchange legal facts and informatio­n.

Moreover, the Kuwaiti Minister of Justice welcomed the prospect of closer legal ties with the Latin American nation, saying he invited Gil Botero to visit Kuwait to keep bilateral ties progressin­g.

Al-Azab is heading a Kuwaiti delegation to the 26th session of the CCPCJ, which kicked off on Monday.

On a related note, Kuwait will organize an event on Thursday at UN headquarte­rs to showcase the country’s efforts to fight terrorism.

The CCPCJ acts as the principal policymaki­ng body of the UN in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.

Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Developmen­t (KFAED) signed an agreement with Mongolia Tuesday to donate USD eight million to finanace a national center for burns and orthopedic.

KFAED said in a statement the center, to be built in the capital Ulaanbaata­r, would be offering specialize­d medical aid for burns, fractured bones, cosmetic surgeries and rehabilita­tion.

The donation will be disbursed to build, equip and maintain the center, which is expected to complete in December 2018, it noted.

The center will cost USD 10 million. Kuwait constribut­es USD eight million.

Today’s agreement was signed by Mongolian head of the Secretaria­t of the Council of Ministers and KFAED Director General Abdulwahha­b Al-Bader.
