MEW holds awareness drive on new tarriffs law
KUWAIT CITY, May 23: Ministry of Electricity and Water organized an awareness campaign at Al-Hamra Tower on Monday, May 22 to introduce the new tariff law in commercial complexes, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
During the campaign, informative brochures highlighting the new procedures that the ministry will follow in this regard were distributed.
Director of the Technical Supervision Department and Head of the GCC Rationalization Campaign at Ministry of Electricity and Water Iqbal Al-Tayyar said, “The aim of this campaign is to educate the commercial sectors about the new tariff system for electricity and water”, revealing that the new cost is five fils instead of two fils.
She indicated that Kuwait is last among the GCC countries to increase the electricity and water costs for commercial sector.
Al-Tayyar stressed that the relevant law is one of the achievements of the state, as it contributes to low emissions and leads to rationalization in consumption of electricity and water.
She affirmed that the new tariff will contribute to reduced wastage of services provided by the ministry in the electrical network, revealing that Al-Hamra Tower, since handover, replaced 5,000 LED bulbs that have contributed to cooling the atmosphere inside the building.
