KUWAIT CITY, May 23: In what is considered a step forward in development of services and an embodiment of Kuwait’s development plan, the City Centre inaugurated Monday afternoon, the new Dasma branch with the attendance of the Minister of Social and Labour Affairs Hind Al-Subaih, other concerned officials and City Centre’s head of the board of directors Adel Yaqoub Al-Ghanim alongside CEO Marzouq Adel Al-Ghanim.
Speaking to the media after her tour of the new building and its facilities, minister Al-Subaih stated she is proud to be present during the inauguration of the new City Centre Dasma as it is clear that the new building provides almost everything a resident of Al-Dasma might need. She also asserted her appreciation over the fact that City Centre delivered on their promise of opening this facility before the holy month of Ramadan which is a testament to the productivity of public and private sector cooperation. She noted that this cooperation is one of the pillars in Kuwait’s development plan and that although City Centre taking the charge in this area, the structure of a cooperative society remains inact and shareholders will continue to receive earnings as well as purchase their goods at low prices, “even lower in comparison to other cooperative societies.”
When asked if this was a form of privatization, the minister asserted that this is not “privatization” but an investment through the cooperation with the private sector, noting that the cooperative society law is enforced and we at the ministry of social affairs and labour stand by it. From his side, Regional Development Manager at City Centre Nasser Adel Al-Ghanim said that the inauguration of this building symbolizes the cooperation between the private and public sector, a matter that is considered a priority within Kuwait’s development plan. He added that the investment value is large, which is all poured into renewing the building and all its facilities with state of the art equipment and décor while also integrating both local and international cafeterias and restaurants in accordance with the company’s policy in division of the market in order to ease the experience for costumers, further enhancing it through efficient customer care with specialized skill set and training.
“Al-Dasma Society’s investment is an initiative crowning the tremendous efforts exerted towards developing the headquarters of the society, and towards diversifying the products and services provided, upgrading them and providing all the needs of the Kuwaiti family,” added Al-Ghanim.
Asserting that all this would not have been possible without the support of the ministry of social affairs and labour headed by the minister herself, who paved the way by providing everything necessary to finalize this initiative.
