Ooredoo ‘awards’ activist Al-Asousi
KUWAIT CITY, May 24: Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network, awarded humanitarian activist Ma’ali Al-Asousi yesterday during the launch ceremony of the company’s volunteer program for the third consecutive year. Al-Asousi was recently recognized by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al-Maktoum as an Arab Hope Maker, a prestigious award on a regional level.
Commenting on this, Ooredoo Kuwait’s General Manager and CEO Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani underscored the importance of Al-Asousi’s achievement, saying that it’s an achievement for all Khaleeji women. He lauded her efforts in championing the underprivileged, and reiterating Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting volunteerism and empowering women.
The event included a number of distinguished speakers, such as young lawmaker Omar Al-Tabtabaie, social media activist Omar Al-Othman, PR manager at the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs Nasser al-Arfaj, founder of Ata Hub mobile app for volunteers Fareed Al-Fouzan, and founder of Spread the Passion non-profit organization Dr. Fatemah Al-Mousawi. All guests offered motivational speeches, drawing examples from their experiences in the field. Ooredoo Volunteer Program During Ramadan, Ooredoo is relaunching its Volunteer Program, following the great success it achieved upon the official launch of the program last two year. This program was launched in cooperation with Spread the Passion, a local non-profit organization which aims at encouraging youth to be more engaged in voluntarily programs. The accompanying training program is intended to continue for a whole month and includes workshops, training camp. Sharing Festivities The company also aims to hold a series of Girgi’an celebrations to bring the joy to kids’ hearts several locations, including the Guardians of the Disabled Association, Mubarakiya Souq in addition to care centres. This will be in addition to visits to pediatric hospital wards in Kuwait along with members of its volunteer program.
Ooredoo has previously collaborated with a number of entities in Kuwait, such as Abdullah Al Nouri institution to aid Syrian refugees in different part of the world, in addition its collaboration with the ‘Kiswat Al Khair’ campaign to distribute clothes for needy families during the holy month. Also Ooredoo representatives has conducted a visit to ‘Yadawi’ centre to give the volunteers a comprehensive idea about how to recycle waste, sort, and reuse it in manufacturing children toys to be donated to children in need. The program will include participation from similar groups.
