Kuwaiti woman sentenced to ‘death’ for killing compatriot
Expat cultivates marijuana at home; 26 domestics held
KUWAIT CITY, May 25: The Criminal Court has sentenced a 35-year-old Kuwaiti woman to death by hanging for killing a compatriot in a suburb of Sabah Al-Salem, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily said the suspect is charged with premeditated murder because she bought a knife and stabbed to death the 43-yearold victim over personal problems.
The Public Prosecution had charged the woman with premeditated murder.
26 domestics held:
Some 26 domestic visa holders from different nationalities were arrested by officers from the Residency Affairs Department for violating residency law and engaging in immoral activities.
A statement issued by the Public Relations and Media Security Department indicated the sponsors of all 26 suspects had filed absconding reports against them prior to their arrest.
Statement added officers of the Residency Affairs Department received information about the activities of some domestic visa holders who had absconded from their various sponsors to work in new houses for wages, and who were practicing immorality.
Acting on information, the officers conducted relevant investigation to verify the report and necessary legal steps were taken to arrest the suspects. They were referred to concerned authorities for further investigation.
Marijuana cultivated:
Security operatives have arrested an expatriate for cultivating and peddling in marijuana.
Public Relations and Security Media at the Drug Control General Department stated the sector received report indicating the expatriate had cultivated marijuana inside a private residence.
Acting on information, a team of detectives was assigned to follow up the case. Guarded by search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution, they raided the private residence located in Hawally Governorate and arrested the suspect who confessed to the crime.
