KSFC panel discusses domestic violence & social developments
KUWAIT CITY, May 28, Members of the Kuwait Supreme Family Council (KSFC) met on Saturday to discuss formation of teams aimed at addressing domestic violence and social changes in the Kuwaiti society.
Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Mohammad Al-Fares said in a statement a team would be tasked with monitoring medical and social developments of the society and how they were related to objectives of the supreme council.
A second team will be preparing and establishing a center to house those subjected to domestic violence, he said.
The family guidance team, he added, briefed the council about awareness campaigns to address domestic violence.
Al-Fares noted that Dr. Amthal AlHuwaila, head of the social observatory team, briefed the council about mechanisms of monitoring and documenting changes in the society in order to address
all negative impacts.
The council meeting was chaired by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and Minister of state for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh.
Meanwhile, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al-Roudhan affirmed that the sector is waging war against artificial prices hike in cooperative societies under the framework of
monitoring prices.
Al-Roudhan disclosed this on his recent a tour of some cooperative societies to ensure that prices of commodities were not exaggerated and discounts approved by the ministry were applied.
He said the tour was in the interest of the general public in clamping down on all methods of cheating and trademark fabrication. He lamented several traders
try to maximise profits at the expense of ordinary citizens and pledged the ministry will not relent efforts to stand by citizens in protecting consumers so that nobody is cheated.
He said the ministry will work hard to automate the unified prices as a way to avoid errors of the past and help citizens and inspectors to determine the prices of commodities easily.
