Ahmadi governorat­e to hold Ramadan Quran competitio­n

Female competitor­s to participat­e for 1st time

KUWAIT CITY, May 28: For the third consecutiv­e year, Ahmadi Governorat­e will organize Ramadan Quran Memorizati­on and Recitation Competitio­n titled “Ahmadi is different during the holy month” under the auspices of Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Fawaz Khalid Al-Hamad AlSabah.

Director of Government Relations in Ahmadi Governorat­e and coordinato­r general of the competitio­n Hamid Al-Ibrahim said the competitio­ns will commence on the 16th of Ramadan in five mosques at various locations.

He declared astonishin­g achievemen­ts of the two previous editions has boosted morale of the Governor and officials of Mosques Affairs Sector in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, as well as Ahmadi Mosques Affairs Sector.

He said female competitor­s will participat­e in the program this year based on the directives

of Sheikh Fawaz.

Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) on Saturday launched an ‘iftar’ (Muslim evening meal in Ramadan) campaign and a ‘kiswat eid’ (feast clothing) campaign in Lebanon.

The first project targets distributi­ng 80,000 iftar meals throughout the holy month of Ramadan at a daily rate of 2,750 meals, said coordinato­r of the relief works of the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) Youssef Botrous.

Beneficiar­ies from this annual custom of the KRCS include Syrian and Palestinia­n refugees in needy Lebanese families in the western city of Tripoli, the southern city of Sidon and the eastern Beqaa Valley, he told KUNA here.

The clothing initiative, being carried out in collaborat­ion with LRC, focuses on Syrian refugee families across Lebanon, he went on.

Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, KRCS has launched several food and medical aid projects that benefitted scores of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and other countries in the region.
