KD 33 mln collected from 3 governorates: MEW
‘Large number of damaged meters replaced’
KUWAIT CITY, May 28: Members of the committee that is in charge of supervising the installation and maintenance of electricity and water meters as well as disconnection and reconnection activities in Capital, Farwaniya and Jahra governorates announced that the ministry has successfully managed to collect KD 33 million from these three governorates in the first four months of this year, reports Al-Rai daily.
In a statement, Head of the committee Eng. Malouh Al-Ajmi said the committee members have been following up the contracted operations in this regard based on directives issued by the Undersecretary of Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng. Mohammad Boushahri and Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs Dr. Meshan Al-Otaibi.
He explained that the committee has been checking the damaged meters and determining whether to repair or replace them. The other tasks taken up by the committee include changing, installing and delivering electricity and water meters, issuance of warning tickets to those who have delayed in settling their bills, retrieving insurance data of the new subscribers, conducting final meter readings and disconnecting services permanently.
Eng. Al-Ajmi indicated that the committee succeeded in replacing a big number of damaged meters, and identifying the huge number of subscribers who have not yet paid the service insurance.
He stressed the keenness of the ministry to provide its services in a manner that will uphold a good image for the ministry in line with its achievements”.
