Saudi charity distribute­s 2 mln Iftar meals

People in 27 cities received meals

JEDDAH, May 28, (KUNA): Saudi Al-Hajj Wal Umrah Gift charity started Saturday the distributi­on of two million Iftar (fast-breaking) meals to people in 27 sites across the Kingdom.

Teams are doling out Iftar meals to the Kingdom visitors at the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah as well as the coastal city of Jeddah and border crossing points, the charity Chairman and Imam of Al-Masjed Al-Haram, the Grand Mosque of Makkah, Dr Saleh Al Taleb told the Saudi Press Agency.

He pointed out that over 1,000 male and female volunteers are participat­ing in the distributi­on of the meals and serving the Kingdom

visitors.

The Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC) welcomed on Friday the internatio­nal community’s transferri­ng to national programs of recommenda­tions of Doha Declaratio­n, published at end of UN crime prevention and criminal justice conference.

The GCC position was articulate­d by Nawaf Al-Rujaib, Second Secretary at Kuwait Embassy to Austria, who was speaking on behalf of the GCC before a meeting of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).

The meeting was preparing for the next UN conference on crime prevention and criminal justice, in Japan. The last conference was held in Doha, Qatar.

Al-Rujaib thanked Qatar for its contributi­ons to transferri­ng the recommenda­tions made at the last conference into national programs.

The success of the Doha conference, he said, “inspires us to look forward that the next conference in Japan will be a remarkable contributi­on to achieving justice, promoting rule of law and sustainabl­e developmen­t.

Al-Rujaib said the GCC countries were ready to provide all kinds of support to bring about success to the conference in Japan.
