Kuwait policy a well-balanced one, says ambassador Ashiki

KUWAIT CITY, July 2: The Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait HE Takashi Ashiki affirmed the strong and solid relations shared by Kuwait and Japan, describing them as historic and advanced in all aspects and different cooperation levels, reports Al-Anba daily.
He indicated that the viewpoints of the two countries are identical over many regional and international issues.
Ambassador Ashiki described the Kuwaiti policy as a well-balanced one, owing to the experience and wisdom of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who enjoys the confidence of leaders of countries around the world.
He said his country supports the efforts exerted by Kuwait as well as His Highness the Amir’s constructive efforts to achieve Gulf reconciliation.
Regarding trade with Kuwait, the ambassador explained that Japan was the fourth biggest trading partner of Kuwait with the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reaching $14 billion in 2014. His country imports seven percent of its total need for oil and oil derivatives from Kuwait.
He highlighted the participation of Japanese companies in the implementation of large strategic projects in Kuwait, revealing that the Japanese company JGC is executing the largest part of the environmental fuel project worth KD 1.36 billion.
Ambassador Ashiki also affirmed the efforts exerted by the Japanese Embassy to spread Japanese culture and extend the bridge of cultural exchange between the two countries, insisting that Japan is a unique tourist destination.
He revealed that 3,060 Kuwaiti tourists visited Japan in 2015.
