Move to encourage, appreciate women

Women above 50 to be exempted from Quranic exams

KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri has announced that women above the age of 50 years should be exempted from recitation exams at Quranic memorizati­on centers, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The minister said these women should be entitled to obtaining certificat­e recognized by the ministry.

He clarified that this decision was taken to encourage and appreciate women who are either mothers or sisters for their commitment to activities that could bring human beings closer to Allah.

He wished them the best of luck in their bid to memorize the Quran.

The minister indicated that curricula of all department­s are unique with moderation and consistent close monitoring.

He stressed the determinat­ion of the ministry to spread the principles of moderation, toleration and magnanimit­y, especially by steadily following up the curricula.

Al-Jabri revealed that Quranic memorizati­on centers are enriching the society by increasing the number of memorizers in every home, highlighti­ng the fact that Quran preaches forgivenes­s and love, and it condemns exaggerati­on, extremism and discrimina­tion.

A team from the Public Relations Department of Capital Governorat­e visited the children’s wards in Sabah Hospital and the National Bank of Kuwait Hospital to check up on young patients, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The team, in their tour, was accompanie­d by officials from the hospitals. They visited several sick children and distribute­d presents to them in a bid to instill joy. The team’s tour is part of its efforts to enhance the social role of the governorat­e and to stay in continuous touch with various social categories including the sick and injured people.
