Hiring of domestics from Jakarta tied to conditions
New company formed
KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait Tatang Budie Utama Razak said the decision to resume sending domestic workers to Kuwait will be according to the conditions of the newly established official company for recruiting domestic works, reports Al-Rai daily.
After establishing the company, the concerned officials should meet to discuss the guarantees being offered to ensure protection of the workers’ rights before deciding to resume sending domestic workers to Kuwait or not, Razak explained.
He pointed out that Indonesia stopped sending domestic workers to Kuwait for a number of reasons such as the improvement of Indonesia’s economic condition and the problems encountered by domestic workers like being forced to work for long hours, requiring them to work in more than one house, heavy work load and non-payment of salary.
On facilitating procedures for Kuwaitis who visit Indonesia, Razak disclosed that his country
Razak has granted visa free entry to citizens of many countries, including Kuwait, who intend to stay in Indonesia for 30 days.
He said the number of tourists in 2016 reached 12 million including 8,000 Kuwaitis. He affirmed that his country ensures the safety of visitors, citing the two-week visit of King Salman. He added the accompanying ministers went shopping without their guards during the visit.
