39 prostitutes among 89 held in Jleeb raid

KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The Public Prosecution is currently investigating a crime of fraud and embezzlement of KD 1 million by two employees of Ministry of Health, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to informed sources, the defendants — a Kuwaiti and an Egyptian — forged cheques for six transactions related to overseas medical treatment. Each patient had to receive a cheque worth KD 10,000 to KD 25,000, but the employees added the number zero to this amount. They then asked the patients to take the due money and handover the rest after convincing them that the rest of the amount was allocated for other patients. The patients did that.

The source explained that the Public Prosecution summoned four of the patients but it became clear that three of them have nothing to do with the act of the two suspects due to which they were released on bail.

The Kuwaiti employee admitted to the act and expressed willingness to return the seized amounts. The citizen has been detained and a warrant for the arrest of his Egyptian accomplice has been issued.

89 held:

Farwaniya police has recently launched a huge campaign in a suspicious location within Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area and arrested 89 Asian expatriates including 39 prostitutes, violators of residency law and absconders, reports Al-Anba daily.

Reportedly, the campaign lasted for three hours and the suspects were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Drugs seized:

Abdali border customs officers arrested an Iraqi expatriate for attempting to smuggle two kilograms of methamphetamine into the country, reports Al-Anba daily.

Reportedly, the inspectors found the drug hidden in the belongings of the driver who had come from Iraq.

The suspect was referred with the contraband to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Account hacked:

A 17-year old Kuwaiti girl was arrested and referred to Juvenile Prosecution for hacking the personal Snapchat account of her relative and uploading a video clip featuring a naked woman, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to security sources, securitymen had initially arrested the owner of the account who denied appearing in the video clip. She then accused the girl of hacking her account.

Valet thieves:

Two Egyptians who offer valet parking services in a well-known commercial complex were arrested for stealing from the parked cars, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a security source.

He said the two suspects took advantage of their work to steal valuables, including cell phones, perfumes, wallets and others from the cars that they parked.

Securitymen, after receiving several complaints, carried out intensive investigations and arrested the two thieves in a trap.

Cop assaulted:

A Kuwaiti citizen in his 20s exchanged blows with a traffic officer for issuing a traffic citation on the King Fahad Motorway.

A security source said the citizen was driving a tintedglass vehicle when the officer spotted him. He was ordered to pull over for questioning after refusing to show the officer his driving license. The suspect is said to have attacked the officer when he decided to seize his vehicle and they exchanged blows, which resulted in injuries to both of them. They all provided medical reports showing injuries sustained during the fight. A case was registered.

Traffic chaos:

Traffic departments in all six governorates of the country witnessed heavy congestion yesterday afternoon due to breakdown of computers resulting from a malfunction in the headquarters of Information Systems Center, reports Al-Anba daily.
