Bad Bananas outlast Ilonggo Tribes 90-85

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Bad Bananas are off to a promising start in the PBLK 8th Season 5’8” Division, after picking up a win against Ilonggo Tribes on Friday at the Hawally Disabled Sports Club.
Joel Alesna was in his element scoring 24 points for Bad Bananas to bring home the Best Player of the Game Award. Alesna’s performance drew double-figure contributions from four other players: Matimtim (15 points),

Rustia (12 points), Sotelo (11 points), and Player #16 (11 points). Player #15 and Reloza also chipped in with 9 and 7 points, respectively.
Ilonggo Tribes fought back behind superb performances from Niegas (16 points), Player #18 (14 points), and Players #30 (11 points). Dumalag and Dela Cruz (#9) scored 9 points apiece, while Mike and Dela Cruz (#25) made 8 points each. Jayson and Jaka also helped out combining for 10 points for the team.
Bad Bananas sought to dominate the opponents early in the game leading by 12 points at the end of the first quarter.
Faced with a huge margin, Ilonggo Tribes doubled up on their offense and outscored Bad Bananas by 10 points, to cut the lead to 2 at the half.
A shootout ensued in the third quarter care of Alesna for Bad Bananas and Player #18 and Niegas for Ilonggo Tribes. Bad Bananas held on to the lead heading into the fourth quarter, 59-56.
Both teams went physical in the fourth quarter giving up fouls in numerous possessions on both ends of the court, causing either team to score mostly off foul shots. Ilonggo Tribes managed to execute numerous plays on offense, but Bad Bananas’ strong men countered each play and held on to their advantage till the waning seconds of the game. Bad Bananas went on to win the game, 90-85.

In other news around PBLK, the Intercompany Division had a field day seeing three teams get a win each: B-Blades (vs AlYasra, 92-60), Behbehani (vs Desert Camp, 71-63), and Kalexco Brando Boys (vs KEO, 81-58).
Meanwhile in the 5’8” NonLeaguers Division, Jay R Pagaragan led Genesis in beating Posta Plus, 63-44, to wrap up Friday’s games.
