‘Remove obstacles to develop industrial sector’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: Experts have called for removal of obstacles to the development of industrial sector.
In this context, Director of Small Scale Projects at the Government and Manpower Reconstruction Program (GMRP) Engineer Fares Al-Anzi affirmed that Kuwait has full capability to develop its economy. He noted failure of 80 percent of projects — whether major or minor are attributable to long procedures and lack of information in reviewing relevant studies and researches.
He added the industrial sector
with the aim of spreading awareness about the importance of reading among the students of the school.
The program gained the delight and approval of students and their
encounters many problems, including lack of plots/land and extensive official procedures, while financing is another major problem. He called for motivation of industrial sector in the current era of low oil prices and lack of investment opportunities.
For his part, industrial expert Engineer Muhammad Al-Qae’i mentioned several obstacles to the development of the sector, including poor planning and lack of lands to establish industrial projects in the absence of relevant laws to protect the local production and Kuwaiti industry. The minister made the statement during her inspection tour of the Aviation Department at ACK, with KAC Board Chairperson Sami Al-Rashid and several officials of the two institutions in attendance. She affirmed that she familiarized herself with KAC’s coordination efforts and its ability to accommodate graduates from ACK, in addition to the requirements of KAC; especially since such cooperation is considered an integral part of social development and efforts to create new opportunities for the national manpower.
She also unveiled plans to establish an airport management company run by national labor force, in addition to visions on generating job opportunities in order to increase the number of national workers.
She also emphasized the importance of academic outputs which match the actual manpower needs. She said the cooperation between ACK and KAC is regarded as one of the major projects in the development plan.
Meanwhile, Engineering Director at KAC Faisal AlKaribani affirmed that the corporation’s relations with ACK started since its inception in 2003. He added ACK produces high-caliber graduates as the specialization is in aviation engineering, with six to seven exams given by KAC and the distinction level is determined after the exams.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of Labor Union of Ministry of Electricity and Water Nawaf Bouyabis described the decision issued recently by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to implement the fingerprint attendance system as not well-studied and not serving the work requirements in Ministry of Electricity and Water, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a press statement, he stressed the importance of reviewing and reconsidering the decision of CSC and Civil Service Council, taking into the account the conditions and nature of ministry’s work which can never be the same in all its sectors and departments.
Bouyabis said, “The decision ignores the reality of different nature of work and circumstances”.
He affirmed that the labor union board is still discussing with the leadership of Ministry of Electricity and Water, represented by Minister Eng Essam Al-Marzouq and Undersecretary Eng Mohammad Boushahri, for amending the status of employees who received degrees from universities, which are recognized by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Bouyabis insisted on the importance of dealing with this file and removing any restricting conditions that were set in this regard.

He pointed to relevant laws stressing the importance of reform and called upon the Government to supply mass production industry the needed electricity.
