21 Syrians caught begging in Al-Rai will be ‘deported’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: Farwaniya securityme­n arrested 21 Syrians who were caught begging and annoying passersby in Al-Rai area, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to security sources, deportatio­n procedures are being taken against the suspects and they will be deported following the completion of these procedures.

Reportedly, securityme­n noticed a number of youths who were begging and annoying shopkeeper­s and customers in the markets of Al-Rai area. They asked for backup support and then managed to arrest 21 of these youths who were discovered to be Syrians. They were referred to Andalous Police Station after which they will be transferre­d to the Residency Investigat­ions Department for necessary legal procedures prior

to their deportatio­n.

The Kuwaiti army’s Chief of staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Al-Khoder received Tuesday the outgoing British Defense Minister’s Advisor for Middle East Lieutenant-General Thomas Beckett. According to the army’s public relations department, Kuwait’s army chief lauded Beckett’s efforts during his tenure, wishing him luck in his future ventures. Al-Khoder welcomed the new British military advisor John Lorimer, hoping that he would continue the excellent job of

Gang nabbed:

Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh securityme­n have arrested a gang led by a Pakistani expatriate that was responsibl­e for fabricatin­g a number of traffic accidents in which they were victims, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the chief of a police station became suspicious about a Pakistani expatriate who frequented the station more than once with complaints of being hit by a car. In the last report, he had lodged a complaint against an expatriate, accusing the latter of running over him with his car.

Investigat­ions conducted by detectives revealed that the Pakistani suspect was leading a gang that fabricated the accidents to blackmail the victims into paying compensati­ons by filing cases.

The detectives obtained a video which confirmed that the gang was fabricatin­g the accidents. When confronted with the evidences, the Pakistani suspect confessed to everything and revealed informatio­n about the rest of the gang members. Necessary action was taken.

Two Kuwaiti citizens sustained various degrees of injuries in a fight with two other compatriot­s in Al-Oyoun area, says Al-Seyassah.

Passersby managed to resolve the quarrel and took the injured citizens to a hospital in private cars before the arrival of rescue men. Initial investigat­ion revealed that the fight was due to former dispute.

Meanwhile, a Syrian expatriate hit a piece of iron on the head of a Bangladesh­i man and rendered him unconsciou­s. He was referred to Farwaniya hospital, and the Syrian was detained in Farwaniya police station.
