CSRSIR identifies original nationalit­ies of 11,628 bedoun

8,421 people have rectified their status, 3207 in process of doing so

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: The latest statistics issued by the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) show the system since the beginning of its work in 2011 until 2017 has identified the original nationalit­ies of 11,628 persons who claimed to be bedoun, reports Al-Rai daily.

The statistics also show 8,421 people have rectified their situations while 3,207 are in the process of doing so.

According to the statistics 6,025 people hold the Saudi nationalit­y and 5,710 have already rectified their status as Saudis, while 315 are in the process of doing so.

CSRSIR also found 3,272 bedoun were of Iraqi origin and 957 of them have rectified their situations and 2,315 are in the process of doing so.

The statistics added 828 people who claimed to be bedoun are in fact Syrian and 150 of them have already amended their situation, and 773 are in the process of doing so.

The statistics also showed the presence 201 people who claimed to be bedoun are Iranian; 98 of whom have already amended their situation and 103 are in the process of doing so.

There are also 49 Jordanian (bedoun) out of total 67 who have corrected their status. There are 1,085 people of different nationalit­ies who claimed to be bedoun and 779 of them have returned to their status and 306 are in the process of acquiring their original nationalit­y.

The sources pointed out the CSRSIR searched for data in the state ministries and in the old government documents starting with the academic certificat­es, work identifica­tion documents, fingerprin­ts stored at the Criminal Evidences Department, and travel traffic across all air, land and sea ports, and linked this to the available data within the system.
