‘Public-private partnership benefits national cadres’
Minister hails co-op between KU’s college, Turkish Limak
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30, (KUNA): Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh on Thursday said that effective partnership between the government and the private sector offers an opportunity to qualify national cadres.
In a press statement following the launch of the “Kuwait female engineers program” at the Kuwait University, the minister added that such training schemes and qualification opportunities for nationals is part of the social responsibility of the private companies.
She praised the cooperation between the Kuwait University’s College of Engineering and Petroleum and the Turkish Limak Holding, which are both adopting the program, as a good model for strategic partnership between the public and the private sectors. Such joint plans support the national cadres and promote a favorable environment to invest their energy and enable them to create, providing them with the skills to compete in the private sector, Al-Sabeeh said.
This goes in line with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision for empowering the Kuwaiti youth to take part in the country’s future development plan.
Visiting Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya said that the Kuwaiti female engineers’ project is a distinguished tool to boost bilateral cooperation for mutual interests.
She lauded the outstanding political and economic ties between the two sides, saying that they are working to enhance cooperation in other fields, like education.
The major goal of the project is to support female education in Kuwait, Kaya said.
According to Kaya, the project started in Turkey last year, and has scored great success.
Supporting women is in fact contribution to promoting the Kuwaiti society, she said.
For her part, member of Limak Holding Ebru Ozdemir stressed the company’s long experience in construction of airports.
Limak Construction Kuwait has been established and is carrying out the new terminal at the Kuwait International Airport.
Ozdemir noted that the company sees various major opportunities for investment in the Kuwaiti economy.
