The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality revealed that an inspection campaign carried out by the Waste Removal Department of Capital Municipality which targeted food shops and restaurants had resulted in the closing down of four facilities, destruction of 7,213 gallons of bottled mineral water and issuance of 20 citations, reports Al-Rai daily.
Director of Capital Municipality Mubarak Nasser Al-Otaibi explained that the concerned bodies will intensify their campaigns at all levels in order to improve municipal work. A plan has been set to inspect food warehouses in order to curb the phenomenon of storing expired food items.
The campaign is in line with the successful campaign titled “With Your Cooperation, We Make It Beautiful” which was launched by the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality.
Head of the Waste Removal Department Eng Abdullah Jaber indicated that the department has been conducting inspections on daily basis for ensuring implementation of municipal laws and regulations.
He revealed that its recent campaign in Shuwaikh area resulted in the destruction of 7,213 gallons of bottled drinking water which had expired, including 32,460 one-liter bottles of mineral water. Jaber said three shops were closed down because the structure of the shops was contrary to the engineering plans on the basis of which the license for operating the shops was issued, adding that the shops also did not comply with the general hygiene regulations related to trading of food items.
