KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: The Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) said more than 91,000 bedoun have corrected their status since the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi invasion until date, either by disclosing their original nationalities or leaving to their home countries, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources close to the system.

The daily added, during the same period 16,942 people have been naturalized.

MP Safa’a Al-Hashem has called upon the CSRSIR to hold an extended press conference to explain in figures and to refute the allegations.

MP Ahmad Al-Fadhl commenting on the fierce campaign that has been launched against the head of CSRSIR Saleh Al-Fadhala said it is not unusual that the work of every patriot is criticized because they work to tackle the real issue of bedoun.

He pointed out the bedoun are either made victims of the situation by their families or they are the victims of the defect in the process of naturalization.

There is another group of people who claim they are bedoun and had cooperated with the Iraqi occupation army and this is unacceptable, Al-Fadhl said.

We also do not accept those who take advantage of the situation, take to the street and try to intimidate the authorities — the government and the National Assembly. Such issues are not worthy of looking into, he added.

Meanwhile, in response to a parliamentary query submitted by MP Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei, the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr Falah Al-Azab said the percentage of non-Kuwaitis working in the Ministry of Justice is 4.56 percent compared to 95.44 percent Kuwaitis since the implementation of Decree No. 13/2007 on the rules and procedures for the appointment in government jobs, State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Information Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdallah holds

Al-Azab mentioned the Ministry of Justice and its affiliates have been and are encouraging the employment of national cadre before or after the issuance of the decree in 2017.

The appointment of non-Kuwaitis in the ministry is limited to filling the shortage in some jobs which Kuwaitis do not prefer — posts such as that of the ‘secretary of the session’, which is one of the supporting functions of the judiciary.

The Ministry of Justice has turned into a smart department, website of which provides more than 247 electronic and information services, the minister announced on Sunday.

Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affair Dr. Falah Al-Azab made the declaration in a statement after inaugurating the website, affirming that the service on the virtual realm is well secured.

Any employee who tries to reach a citizen’s personal data without legal justification will be shunned and referred the Public Prosecution on charges of breaching national’s private information, he warned.

Qusai Al-Shatti, the general director of the central apparatus for information technology, said the website provides 47 electronic services and more than 210 data services, enabling citizens to do transactions rapidly.

Citizens can pay fees, fines and rents via the website which also posts travel bans.

And, Board Chairman and Director General of Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad issued a directive to implement the decision that allows employees to be late for not more than one hour provided it will be compensated at the end of official working hours, reports Al-Anba daily.

The decision aims to help employees avoid problems in using the fingerprint attendance system and ease their tension in case of delay in reaching their workplace due to traffic congestion or any other reason. The decision stipulates that reporting late for work should not be combined with the permissions and exemptions adopted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) regarding attendance.
