B’deshi gang selling expired rice as high quality product caught
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: General Department of Residency Investigations, represented by the Department for Follow up of Residency Violators, arrested an Arab expatriate and an Asian expatriate for running an unlicensed domestic labor office and using it for immoral activities, reports Al-Shahed daily.
When the General Department for Residency Affairs received information about the illegal activities of the two suspects, necessary actions were taken and the information was investigated.
A team from the department raided a flat in Farwaniya area and arrested the two suspects along with 41 female domestic workers of Ethiopian nationality. Some of them were discovered to be in violation of the residency law, some others were reported as absconding and some were involved in lawsuits.
Meanwhile, General Department for Residency Affairs arrested 28 Ethiopian violators of residency law in Mahboula area.
When the department received information about a house that shelters absconders and violators of domestic labor law, a team from the department raided the house after taking relevant legal actions.
They arrested 28 Ethiopian men and women who admitted that they do not work for their sponsors but work for daily wages.
They have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal actions.
Selling expired rice:
Irrespective of the level of innovativeness among the wicked and evil souls in promoting their illicit goods, the ever-alert security authorities will always be on the lookout. A Bangladeshi gang that specialized in selling expired Indian rice in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area received a hard blow recently by officers from the Financial Crimes Department of General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, reports Al-Rai daily.
This gang used to repackage expired Indian rice and rebrand it as A team of firemen controlled a fire that razed 4,200 square-meters area of a factory in Mubarak Al-Kabeer without any casualty, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The daily added the Operations Room of the Fire Department received a distress call about the incident and dispatched personnel from the fire brigades in Subhan and Mubarak Al-Kabeer respectively to the scene.
Initial investigation indicated the fire had started inside the
excellent-quality Pakistani rice. It would collect expired rice from all over and store it in an apartmentcum-factory in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh area where they played their dirty game. After repacking and branding the expired rice, they would sell it to various shops from where the rice would eventually end up in the stomachs of consumers.
When security authorities received information about the illegal operations of the gang, the Director General of General Directorate of Criminal Investigations Major General Mohammad Al-Sharhan tasked the Financial Crimes Department to monitor and collect information to verify the wicked activities of the auto painting/oven booth of the factory, and firemen prevented it from spreading to other parts.
The teams were led by Director of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Fire Brigade Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Nasser with head of Hazardous Materials at the Mubarak AlKabeer Fire Brigade Lieutenant Colonel Ali Al-Marzouqi, as well as Subhan Fire Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Al-Edan.

Securitymen, in coordination with the emergency team of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, raided the factory and arrested the gang members. They confiscated a huge quantity of the rebranded expired rice bags which were ready to go to various markets. The gang members were referred to the concerned authorities.
Investigations to find the printing shop that facilitated their operations are underway.
Liquor factory busted:
Officers from Ahmadi Security Directorate arrested two Asians for running a liquor factory inside their flat, says Al-Seyassah.
A security source said Ahmadi Security Chief Brigadier Abdullah Safaa received information about the activities of some Asians manufacturing local alcohol in a flat, and a team of detectives was formed to follow up the issue.
Warrant was issued by the Public Prosecution to arrest the suspects after confirming validity of the report, and the officers confiscated 56 drums, 55 bottles of ready-made liquor, and other tools for manufacturing liquor during the raid. They referred the two Asians with the contraband to concerned authorities for necessary action.
