‘Real estate broker’ steals monthly rent

Drunkard’s suicide bid averted

-

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: A Kuwaiti citizen lodged a complaint at Hawally Police Station against an Egyptian real estate broker with whom he has an agreement to run his property, as the latter disappeared after collecting KD 7,000 of monthly rents, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to a security source, the citizen asked for police help to find the Egyptian crook who had deluded him by claiming that he is a professional real estate broker. He then entrusted him to collect the rents on his behalf but was surprised when he disappeared and was no longer showing up. When he called the man’s mobile phone, it was switched off.

The suspect was able to gain the confidence of the citizen by committing himself to receiving the rents from the tenants and handing them over to the landlord in the early months of his work. However, last month he retained the total proceeds of KD 7,000 and disappeared.

The victim provided securitymen with the information he had about the suspect.

A case was registered and referred to the Criminal Investigations Department where his name was included in the wanted list.

Security forces successfully managed to control a drunken citizen who threatened to throw himself from a rooftop of a semi-constructed house in Shuwaikh Residential Area in an attempt to commit suicide, reports Al-Rai daily.

When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information from an eye witness who said he saw a man standing on the edge of a scaffold at a house under construction, securitymen rushed to the location with paramedics. After several attempts and negotiations, securitymen eventually managed to change the man’s mind and made him step out of the scaffold. They then apprehended him and detected the smell of liquor all over him.
