Abad bags Filgolfers-Kuwait President’s Championship Cup

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The Filipino Golfers Association of Kuwait (Filgolfers - Kuwait) held its first President’s Cup Tournament last Thursday at the Kuwait International Golf and Country Club (KGICC) in Wafra.
With the weather slightly improving, the first flight that included the birthday celebrant, Filgolfers-Kuwait President Bong Gante teed-off at 5:30 am followed by the other 5 flights with an interval of 10 minutes each flight for a total of 6 flights of 4 players each.
After more than three hours of power-packed golf action under the scorching humid weather, Norman Abad bagged the President’s Championship Cup after submitting a net score of 2 under 34 to beat the rest of the players.
Trailing behind Abad were Sonny Cajipe with 1.5 under 34.5 score and Joe Mole with 1 over 37 as first and second runners-up respectively.
A sumptuous brunch catered by Mario’s Restaurant followed the awarding of prizes to complete the Birthday celebration of Gante.
The Filgolfers-Kuwait is one of the most active Philippine sports organisations in Kuwait that has organised various charitable events to help raise funds for typhoon survivors and less fortunate compatriots in the Philippines.
The group also holds a weekly golf clinic for beginners and other golf enthusiasts.
