KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The Ambassador of South Korea to Kuwait His Excellency Yoo Yeonchul disclosed that Korean destroyer Kang Jam Chan, accompanied with a logistic ship, will visit Kuwait on Oct 15 to 18 - the first of its kind in the history of the bilateral relations between South Korea and Kuwait since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1979, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ambassador said, “This visit will open new horizons for military cooperation between the two countries and will take the bilateral relations to a new level”.

He praised the visit of the Kuwaiti Commander of Military Police Brigadier General Adel Al-Rujaib to South Korea last April to discuss ways to strengthen military cooperation, adding that such a visit was the first of its kind since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The ambassador stressed that there are two South Korean military officers who will join the annual course for officers and commanders in Mubarak Al-Abdullah College of Command and Joint Staff.

He revealed that he intends to organize a special ceremony to welcome the arrival of the two vessels next Sunday morning, followed by opening the two vessels to the public and members of the South Korean community in Kuwait from 1 pm to 4 pm.

The ambassador explained that the ceremony will feature an orchestra, an openair dance team, a marine band, honor guards and a marine entertainment group called “The Traditional Korean Quartet, Magic Games and Singing”. The concert program will include traditional Korean folk music and dance.
