Play a game of drones with the Jaguar XJ

Jaguar XJL delivers latest technology inside and out

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Jaguar has staged a unique drone race to demonstrate how much room there is in the super spacious, super-lux long-wheelbase XJ saloon.

High-speed drones piloted by professional racers flew through three cars during the race at Alexandra Palace, on a course marked out with 13 gates the same shape as an XJL rear door.

Travelling at speeds of up to 60mph, the drones navigated their way through the door-shaped gates lit in Phosphor Blue and Red to highlight two of the XJ’s stunning interior lighting options.

“I’ve been racing drones in competition for years, but this is a first for me. The course was a great test, but the fact we were able to go at such speeds proves how much space the doors of the Jaguar XJL gave us. Despite having to fly through the cabin we were still pushing the drones to their top speeds.” Brett Collis, victorious drone pilot The ease with which the drones flew through the Jaguar XJL cabin is testament to the extra five inches of rear legroom over the standard wheelbase XJ.

Perfectly suited to those seeking comfort on the move, the XJL boasts an exquisite interior and sporting agility that makes for a commanding presence inside and out. This is thanks to features such as airline style reclining seats with massage function, increased headroom, fold-out tables and specially tuned rear suspension to enhance ride comfort.

Allied with 3.0-litre V6 engines available in petrol (340PS) and diesel (300PS), as well as a 5.0-litre V8 510PS petrol engine, owners can rest assured in the performance of whichever option they choose while enjoying the comfort inside the cabin.

Full of technology, the XJL shows new levels of connectivity and offers an effortless driving experience with features that include full LED headlights, all-wheel drive and All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), as well as the latest Touch Pro infotainment system.

“Quality and comfort are always at the forefront of our minds and this is especially true for the Jaguar XJL. The long wheelbase gave us the space to create a passenger experience that is second to none. We might not have designed it with drone racing in mind, but it’s a fun way to demonstrate the spacious environment we’ve created.”

of the second generation Panamera, including the digitalised Porsche Advanced Cockpit, ground-breaking assistance systems and optional rearaxle steering. Another of these innovations is the roof spoiler, unique in the segment, the pitch is automatically controlled to one of three different angles depending on the driving situation and vehicle settings. The spoiler generates additional downforce of up to 50 kg on the rear axle, under speeds of 170 km/h the aerodynamic guide element – a central system component of the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) – stays in its retracted position at an angle of minus seven degrees to follow the roof line. Above 170 km/h the roof spoiler automatically moves to a performance position with an angle of plus one degree, thereby increasing driving stability and lateral dynamics. In the Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position at speeds of 90 km/h upwards. PAA provides active assistance by adapting new XJR575 — which boasts a 575PS power output and a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of just 4.4 seconds. Offering effortless refinement alongside acceleration, Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine produces 700Nm of torque.

It comes with a choice of two bespoke new exterior colour finishes from Special Vehicle Operations — Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey — while the exterior also sports updates to the rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes with gloss black surrounds.

Striking red brake callipers now accompany the 20-inch Farallon gloss black wheels, as part of an exterior refresh that brings new badges and twin bonnet louvres. A stylish final flourish comes inside the cabin, with bespoke embossed tread plates standing out alongside the intaglio and diamond-quilted seating.

The XJL and XJR575 are manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover’s Castle Bromwich plant alongside the XE, XF and F-TYPE. the roof spoiler’s angle to plus 26 degrees, when the panoramic sliding roof is open, at 90 km/h or above to compensate for the turbulence created.

The top-of-the-line model has all of the advantages of the new Sport Turismo range and its the avantgarde design. The roof line of the Sport Turismo is raised in comparison to the sports saloon, allowing for easier entry and exit of passengers and provides greater head room. The luggage compartment benefits from the wide opening electricallyoperated tailgate, and a leading-edge height of just 628 millimetres. The second row of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is equipped with three rear seats. The two outside seats are individual seats, keeping with the model line’s ethos of sporty performance with maximum passenger comfort, producing a 2+1 configuration at the rear.

Two electrically-adjustable individual seats for the rear can be fitted as an option. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo offers 425 litres of luggage space. The three rear seats can be folded down together or individually (in a 40:20:40 split) and unlocked electrically from the luggage compartment. With the second row folded away the loading volume increases to 1,295 litres.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is available with a range of standard equipment. This includes; electronic Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) roll stabilisation system with the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) rear differential lock, high-performance Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) braking system, 21-inch alloy wheels in a 911 turbo design, Power Steering Plus and Sport Chrono Package and auxiliary air conditioning as standard. As with all Panamera Sport Turismo models that produce over 440 hp (324 kW) of power, the adaptive three-chamber air suspension is standard including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for a broad range between a high level of driving dynamics and driving comfort.

The new Panamera Turbo S EHybrid Sport Turismo is available to order now, with the market launch scheduled for January 2018. The basic retail price in Kuwait is KWD 67,800.
