Bokova commends Kuwaiti contributions to UNESCO
1,501 driving licenses issued to bedouns
PARIS, Nov 4, (KUNA): UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova lauded Friday Kuwaiti contributions to the organization, saying that His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was a figure keen on development of education and culture worldwide.
Bokova’s statement came during her meeting with Kuwaiti Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohammad Al-Fares.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to France Samie Al-Suleiman, envoy to UNESCO Dr Meshal Hayat, and other Kuwaiti officials attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Minister Al-Fares also met with French Jean-Michel Blanquer, French Minister of National Education, discussing with him ways to bolster cooperation with the educational and cultural domains.
Ambassador of Kuwait to France Samie Al-Suleiman and a number of Kuwaiti officials attended the meeting.
Central Apparatus for Illegal Residents’ said on Saturday 1,501 driving certificates had been issued in the past nine months to illegal residents in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior. New permits were distributed to 759 females and 748 others were issued for males.
The new private and public licenses had been issued since January 2017 until last September, in addition to 2, 5477 renewed licenses, the Apparatus’ Director of Information Abdullah Al-Farhan told KUNA.
Al-Farhan said Al-Jahra governance ranked top in terms of issuing orders for driving licenses for the same period, totaling 920 permits, while Al-Farwania governance came second with 204, followed by the capital with 167 ones.
