‘IS-linked Kuwaiti is alive’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: A Kuwaiti, identified only as HL, who was earlier reported to have been executed by DAESH or the so-called Islamic State militants is alive and in the group’s prison, reports Al-Rai daily.

The sources pointed, according to the latest information given by the DAESH leader, Abu Ayub, HL is held in the office of the Caliphate or leader of the organization Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

“If the organization had killed him, as some had said, it would have officially declared that, but they refused even to declare the place of his grave, which deals with 106 development countries, attaches much attention to agriculture and food security as the key to fighting poverty and famine.

The provision of food security depends on agricultural policies that focus on production efficiency and land productivity as well as conservancy of natural resources, including arable land, he said to KUNA.

The future of food and water is contingent upon the way of using them, given that they suffer sharp pressure owing to unsuitable agricultural policies, negatively affecting land and water quality, he added. Only over the last 10 years, Arab countries began to be aware of the importance of food security so they reversed some of their agricultural policies, he pointed out.

On his part, Secretary-General of Kuwait Environment Protection Society Jenan Bahzad said the better use of natural resources, nature conservancy and introduction of clean industries would surely lead to better quality of life.

Environmental efficiency cannot contradict the economic feasibility and cost of environment protection, she said, adding that environment protection would reduce the bill of deterioration and reconstruction.

She underlined the necessity of setting out future plans and awareness and training programs, and applying law which would lead to resolving many administrative and technical problems.

Bahzad expounded on such major challenges as pollution, climate changes, overpopulation, natural resources, waste management and modern technology as well as biodiversity.

The Arab forum on environment and development kicked off in Beirut earlier on Thursday, with a Kuwaiti delegation attending.

Meanwhile, the 10th Annual Conference of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) urged the Arab governments to adopt stricter measures to protect environment and manage the natural resources.

The challenges facing environment and economic development in the region in the last decade require effective cooperation in the framework of the Arab League, according to the final statement of the gathering.

The Arab countries need to scale up their efforts to realize the sustainable development targets, improve environmental governance and policies, and contribute to the international efforts in this regard, the statement said.

Department of Political Science at the College of Social Studies in Kuwait University recently organized a seminar on ‘Dialogue in Resolving the Crises of South European Countries’. Prominent personalities at the event included Advisor to Prime Minister Yeri Tchiveski of the Czech Republic, the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Kuwait Martin Dvorak, and Chairman of the Department of Political Science in Kuwait University Dr Hassan Jowhar. The event was moderated by Head of Latin American Studies Unit

or upload a video, neither showed his belongings nor his will, and this made us think he was not killed,” the sources said.

“HL fell foul with the organization because of leniency when it came to shedding blood, because he saw there should be leniency and execution should be based on evidence”, the source added.

The source pointed out HL is an influential figure and one who spoke out boldly so his execution by the organization had to be officially announced and this did not happen.
