No jobs for under 30 diploma holders rule effective in 2018

22 bogus companies sponsoring 90 people shut

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: The Manpower Public Authority (PAM) has issued a decision which will be implemente­d during 2018 and according to which the recruitmen­t of people under the age of 30 holding diplomas and above will be stopped, reports Al-Anba daily.

The decision also stated those who are above this age will not be permitted to upgrade their certificat­es unless they leave the country.

On the other hand, a ceiling will be set for workers in some profession­s and marginal jobs that can be replaced by modern technologi­es.

The ministries will be asked to reduce the percentage of contracts for security guards and cleaning workers.

The Authority indicated the number of government contracts was 2,274 and the number of workers registered on those contracts is 447,077 workers.

Firms on blacklist:

Detectives from Residency Affairs Department discovered 22 bogus companies shut down for sponsoring 90 workers who are on a blacklist. Concerned authoritie­s have since been notified to take necessary action against the companies in question.

In a statement, the department confirmed that citizenshi­p and passports sector will continue the unexpected campaign to ensure arrest of all residency violators, while reprimandi­ng bogus companies that provide jobs for absconders.

Meanwhile, Fire Protection Sector continued its closure of violating installati­ons to protect life and property in line with the decision of Fire Chief Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Mikrad.

Vendors arrested:

In a quick blow, the second of its kind in less than two weeks, members of the Tripartite Committee which was formed by the Council of Ministers, in cooperatio­n with the Ministry of Interior carried out two surprise inspection campaigns and raided the makeshift markets in Jleeb AlShuyoukh and arrested expatriate vendors selling foodstuffs, fish and shrimps, reports Al-Anba daily.

The Tripartite Committee comprises members from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Ministry of Commerce and Kuwait Municipali­ty.

The director of the inspection department of the Public Authority for Manpower, Mohammed Al-Ansari said 11 expatriate street vendors were arrested during the two campaigns.

He added, 10 expatriate­s were holding residence under Article (18) and one Article 20.

Ex-con resists arrest:

A Kuwaiti ex-convict resisted arrest by Capital security operatives in Shuwaikh Industrial Area. The officers later discovered he was wanted for drug related offenses, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source said the officers were on a routine patrol in Shuwaikh Industrial Area when the man aroused their suspicion when they saw him loitering around the mechanic garages. They approached him for identifica­tion, which revealed with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the acting interior and defense ministers to provide all the necessary medical services to the injured, expressing at the same time condolence­s to the families of those martyred in the accident.

Fight over nose:

A youth lost his temper inside a restaurant at a popular shopping mall in Jahra area and taught two individual­s who made mockery of his large nose a lesson by dragging them on the ground by acting Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid who sent a military plane to transport the injured to Kuwait and provided medical and health personnel on board the plane.

Hussain Issa Mohammad Kamal Al-Balushi said his brother Mohammad died in the accident, adding that one of the survivors said the bus driver was asleep because the bus veered off the road and went to the surroundin­g sandy area and then he tried to return but he could not control the bus until it overturned on the road.

Manager of the restaurant placed a call to the police to report the incident and a patrol team responded swiftly.

The officers saw signs of violence in the location and investigat­ed the man. He narrated two strangers who sat beside him in the restaurant started mocking him over his large nose, noting he initially ignored them but he was left with no option than to teach them a lesson to protect his dignity when they raised the tempo.

The restaurant owner later withdrew the complaint for destructio­n of his property against the youth.
