LONDON, Nov 4 (Agencies): Liverpool piled further misery on West Ham United with a 4-1 rout at the London Stadium on Saturday to move back into sixth spot in the Premier League and leave the Londoners hovering above the drop zone.

Quickfire goals by Mohamed Salah and Joel Matip midway through the first half put Juergen Klopp’s side in control against a West Ham side woefully short of confidence.

West Ham improved immediately after the break and pulled a goal back through Manuel Lanzini but less than a minute later Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pounced again for the visitors for whom Salah drove in a fourth with 15 minutes left. Liverpool’s second successive league win moved them level on 19 points with champions Chelsea and Arsenal who are both in action on Sunday. Burnley also have 19 points. West Ham are one place above the relegation zone.

Newcastle United 0, AFC Bournemouth 1 AFC Bournemouth moved out of the bottom three after a Steve Cook header in the final minute of stoppage time gave them a 1-0 win at Newcastle United in a lively Premier League clash at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Cook capped a late surge by Bournemouth, rising above his markers to steer home a corner kick after Marc Pugh had hit the post in the 88th minute and fellow substitute Jermain Defoe had seen his shot turned around the post by keeper Rob Elliot. Newcastle dominated the first half but were foiled by several superb saves from visiting goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who also enjoyed a stroke of luck when Matt Ritchie’s long-range effort cannoned off the woodwork and Dwight Gayle’s follow-up was disallowed for offside.

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson missed a gilt-edged opportunity in the 52nd minute when he fired wide with only Elliot to beat but as the game appeared to be heading for a stalemate, Cook threw the visiting fans into raptures.

“It means everything. It’s an incredible feat by the players and a wonderful example of professionalism,” added the 44-year-old Northern Irishman.

St Johnstone had been the last side to defeat Celtic on domestic duty back in May 2016, but they never looked like repeating that feat.

Scott Sinclair opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Dembele added a second in the 72nd minute.

Steven Anderson turned a Dembele cross into his own net two minutes later before Olivier Ntcham added a late fourth. Celtic were unchanged from their Champions League 2-1 home defeat by Bayern Munich on Tuesday but they showed no signs of a European hangover as they quickly warmed to the task in the autumn sunshine.

A sluggish St Johnstone, without a goal since Sept 23, went behind from Celtic’s first corner of the match.

Stuart Armstrong fired the low corner to the centre of the penalty area where there was plenty of space for the unmarked Sinclair to fire the ball high into the net beyond the despairing Zander Clark.

Celtic began the second half as they ended the first and came close to adding a second shortly after the restart.

An Armstrong corner in the 53rd minute was met by Dedryck Boyata but his looping header was nodded off the line by Aaron Comrie at the back post. Celtic doubled their lead when Dembele struck, the French striker started the move on the half-way line and burst into the box to get on the end of Armstrong’s cut-back to finish confidently past Clark.

Dembele proved to be a thorn in St Johnstone’s side as he set up Celtic’s third two minutes later. Australian midfielder Tom Rogic fed the ball to the striker on the left wing and his attempt to pick out Sinclair with a cutback came off Saints defender Anderson and trundled into his own net.
