Kuwait-French dialogue explores new horizon

Move to further cement political cooperatio­n

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Europe Affairs Walid Al-Khobeizi said the first meeting of the KuwaitiFre­nch Strategic Dialogue, held here on Wednesday, reviewed the bilateral ties and ways to promote cooperatio­n in various fields.

The meeting, that gathered Jerome Bonnafont, director of the North Africa and Middle East Dept. of the French Foreign Ministry, highlighte­d the need to set up a higher committee on cooperatio­n to further cement the political cooperatio­n, he told KUNA.

Both sides agreed to coordinate stances of both countries on various regional and internatio­nal issues and settle the disputes in the Middle East region through political means.

They commended the level of military cooperatio­n between the two countries in terms of armament and training, Al-Khobeizi pointed out.

France renewed its full support to the mediation efforts, being made by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to resolve the Gulf crisis, he went on.

Regarding the economic ties, both sides agreed to increase the trade exchanges and joint investment and tap into the promising opportunit­ies of investment, he said, adding that today’s talks dealt also with the educationa­l and cultural exchanges.
