KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: Around 70 percent of Kuwait Municipality’s buildings are unlicensed as per the report of the Committee on Establishment of Artistic File for Installations, a reliable source told Al-Rai daily.

The source revealed Director General of the Municipality Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi issued an administrative decision to form a committee that will inspect all buildings of the Municipality and submit a report in this regard.

Vice-Chairman of Kuwait Economic Society Abdul-Wahab Al-Rushaid affirmed that the government is looking for alternative sources of energy rather than depending solely on oil, and “this is the only way to attract foreign investors and make use of the islands”, reports AlShahed daily.

Al-Rushaid disclosed this recently during a live interview on the program “Be Patient” via Al-Shahed TV Channel. He stressed it’s impossible to detach politics from the economy and noted several studies have since been presented to the executive and the legislative authorities to move the wheel of development forward but the documents are kept under desks. He indicated priorities of the government and parliament require adopting those studies.

He stressed that comfort is not always by money but enforcement of justice and equality, urging government to create an opportunity for those whose citizenship was stripped off to defend their cases in court.

He commended the lawmakers for their oversight functions, but faulted them for not enacting alternatives to five laws out of 500 draft bills. He accused the lawmakers of struggling to present draft laws that could add to their curricula vitae instead of serving public interests.
