Kuwait backs Egypt’s counter-terror offensive in Sinai
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: The regular weekly Cabinet session chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was held Monday at the Council of Ministers Chamber in Al-Seif Palace.
In a press briefing after the session, the Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Khalid Al-Saleh revealed that the Cabinet listened to details from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah concerning preparations for Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq, as well as the International Inter-ministerial Anti-DAESH Conference.
He disclosed that His Highness the Amir on Wednesday will declare open Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq. He also explained issues related to the agenda slated for the two conferences, which Kuwait is hosting, to ensure total success and desired objectives.
Regret
Meanwhile, Cabinet expressed deep concern and regret over the recent plane crash in Russia, which claimed the lives of all passengers. The Cabinet will soon send official condolences to the government of Russia on the sad incident.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Cabinet on Monday commended ongoing military and security operations against terrorist positions in northern and central Sinai.
Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said the Cabinet applauded the operations carried out by the Egyptian army targeting terrorists and their posts in Sinai.
The Cabinet, in this regard, wished Egypt and its people everlasting security and stability, the minister said.
The Kuwaiti ministers also voiced much sadness at a recent plane crash in Russia, which left all passengers on board dead, offering heartfelt condolences to Russia and its people over this tragedy.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet listened to a briefing from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on preparations and arrangements for an international conference on Iraq’s reconstruction efforts due in Kuwait on Wednesday.
