Seminar to focus on unique, rich history of Failaka Island
College of Architecture organizes event
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: College of Architecture in Kuwait University will organize a seminar titled “Critical Conservation and Creative Economy for the Failaka Project” at Amricani Cultural Center on Feb 19 with the cooperation of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah and the British Council.
According to a press statement issued by the university, the seminar will be focused on the unique and rich history of the Failaka Island from a cultural and natural prespective, as well as the human settlements that continued throughout history until 1990.

Al-Jassar explained that the Failaka Island has archeological stites that represent a historic era since the end of 3 BC, and the role it played in boosting trade and cultural relations among the regional civilizations.
The antiques and heritage of Failaka Island are considered to be one of the important pillars of future plans for the development of the island as a touristic attraction.
Dr Al-Jassar stressed the importance of preserving the material aspects of this island’s heritage, which reveals Kuwait’s contribution in human civilizations.
The main presenters in the seminar will be Dr Hassan Ashkanani from Kuwait University’s Anthropology and Archeology Department, and Dr Abdulmuttalib Balaam from the College of Architecture.
