His Highness the Amir expresses gratitude to charities
KCCI ready for outcome of Iraq conference
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday expressed deep gratitude to Kuwaiti charities for soothing hardships of peoples in need for aid.
“I can only say thank you in the name of all your Kuwaiti brethren ... you have acted and fulfilled your blessed duties,” said His Highness as he hosted, at Seif Palace, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind AlSabeeh and heads of local charities.
His Highness the Amir also praised the associations for partaking in the recently held international conference for reconstructing Iraq.
Good and charitable actions are ideal principles; instilled in the Kuwaiti people’s conscience since old times and embraced by the generations, His Highness the Amir said, alluding to the ongoing multiple initiatives to relieve the needy and catastrophes’ victims in and Arab and foreign countries.
For his part, Dr Abdullah Al-Maatouq, Chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organization and Advisor at the Amiri Diwan, indicated that he and his colleagues came to see His Highness, listen to his guidelines and brief him about aid activities.
Jamal Al-Nouri, Chairman of Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity, told His Highness that $37 million, out of $48 million earmarked for Iraq, had been disbursed for housing for the displaced, aiding widows and teaching crafts to enable the needy earn bread on sustainable basis.
Chairman of Kuwait Relief Society Ahmad Al-Jasser affirmed that the Iraq conference, held on Feb 12-14, constituted an opportunity to shed light on the Kuwaiti charitable work.
Faisalm Al-Zamel, representative of Al-Najat Charity, said he and his colleagues were honored to meet His Highness the Amir. An identical statement was made by Nabil Al-Oun, General Director of Al-S alam charity.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Chairman Ali Al-Ghanim said on Monday KCCI stands prepared to work with the government to put in place the outcome of the recent conference on Iraq’s reconstruction in Kuwait.
Speaking to reporters following his meeting with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, Al-Ghanim mentioned in particular Kuwaiti investments in Iraq.
He added that he and KCCI board members had listened to advice from His Highness the Amir in this regard, quoting His Highness the Amir as confirming that the government would work with the private sector to carry out recommended projects in Iraq.
He cited the Kuwait International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI) as a clear-cut paradigm of His Highness the Amir and Kuwaiti people’s goodwill towards their neighbors.
