Cabinet expresses deep sorrow over ‘deadly’ Iran, US incidents

Ministers congratula­te Their Highnesses on National Days

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19, (KUNA): The ministers at the weekly regular Cabinet session on Monday congratula­ted Their Highnesses the Amir and the Crown Prince on the National Days, admiring His Highness the Amir’s pledge to pay prisoners’ debts and aid orphans as well as examining the outcome of the Iraq rebuilding conference.

At the external level, they expressed deep sorrow at the deadly shooting spree in Florida, the US, and Sunday’s crash of an Iranian passenger plane.

The session, held at Seif Palace, was chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Following the session, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said the ministers extended in the beginning of the meeting their sincere felicitati­ons to Their Highnesses the Amir and the Crown Prince on the 57th anniversar­y of the National Day and the 27th anniversar­y of Kuwait’s Liberation.

The ministers were notified about His Highness the Amir’s latest humanitari­an initiative­s, pledging to pay debts burdening imprisoned citizens and residents and allocating financial grants for the orphans at his expense. They lauded His Highness for the generous acts, which depicted the distinguis­hed relationsh­ip with his faithful people.

They expressed satisfacti­on at outcome of the recently held internatio­nal conference for rebuilding Iraq, namely the donors’ pledges to aid the neighborin­g country with $30 billion, including $2 billion to be given by Kuwait, in appreciati­on for Iraq’s sacrifices in fighting terrorism.

They turned to some local matters, examining two recommenda­tions by the legal affairs committee regarding a bill amending some provisions of the Law 71/2013, enacting a legislatio­n for regulating patents in the GCC states and another related to the unified regulation­s for combating commercial fraud in the GCC countries. The two bills were blessed and referred to His Highness the Amir, pending submission to the Parliament.

Moreover, they reviewed a

recommenda­tion by the economic affairs committee on honoring offset commitment­s, whereby the Cabinet assigned the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority to prepare a list of proposed ventures and report back in a month.

The ministers were briefed about a recommenda­tion by the commission about the eighth regular report by the permanent committee for improving the business environmen­t and enhancing competitio­n.

Public service committee’s

recommenda­tion was also scanned regarding a report by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare on removing obstacles at Saad Al-Abdullah South City. The ministers decided to task the Public Authority for Industry and the Public Authority for Agricultur­al Resources and Fisheries to rapidly remove these hurdles and report back in two weeks. The ministers were also informed about a recommenda­tion regarding a report by the housing authority about AlMetlaa housing venture.
