Arab Forum on REEE kicks off in May
A press conference was held at Ministry of Electricity and Water to declare the kick off of the 4th Arab Forum for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE) which will be held in Kuwait on May 6-7, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
On the sidelines of the press conference, Director of Energy Department at the Arab League Eng Jamilah Matar indicated that the establishment of the joint Arab market for electricity, the memorandum of understanding of which was signed by 16 Arab ministers in April 2017, needs time for completion.
She said the relevant procedures are ongoing at a reasonable pace.
Eng Matar explained that the aim of establishing the Arab joint market for electricity is to exchange electricity on commercial bases. There is an integrated study for establishing the joint Arab market for electricity, and the obstacles facing this project are being removed gradually.
Meanwhile, Head of the organizing committee of the forum and Assistant Undersecretary for Distribution Networks at Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng Jassem Al-Nouri said the forum will be held in Kuwait for the first time, and for the first time outside Egypt. He indicated that 40 specialists representing international institutions involved in the field of renewable energy have been invited to participate in the forum.
