Reshuffling at Municipality aimed to inject new blood at senior level
Eng Al-Roumi refers 32 senior officials to retirement
KUWAIT CITY, April 18: Kuwait Municipality will soon witness the largest reshuffling process that will include directors and heads of departments, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.
The sources explained that the reshuffling is aimed at giving opportunities for young employees to occupy positions of heads of departments, and replace employees who will be referred for retirement following completion of 33 years of service.
The most outstanding candidate to take up the position of Deputy Director General for Financial and Administrative Affairs following the resignation of Eng Walid Al-Jassem is the current Assistant Secretary General for Municipal Affairs Ali Al-Roumi.
The sources said they expect Eng. Sa’ad AlMeheilbi may take up the position of Head of Organization and Constructive Plan, adding that a counselor (not identified yet) will be appointed as the head of a department.
They revealed that some employees in supervisory positions requested to continue in their positions after giving up their job titles so that they are not referred for retirement.
The sources said a number of heads of departments including Deputy Director General for Project Affairs Eng Nadia Al-Shuraidah and Deputy Director General for Farwaniya and Jahra Municipality Affairs Fahd Al-Shetaili are waiting for their names to be included in the decision of State Minister for Municipal Affairs to be appointed as assistant undersecretaries in the ministry.
Meanwhile, Minister of Municipality Engineer Hossam Al-Roomi recently referred 32 senior officials to retirement in line with the implementation of cabinet’s resolution to pave the way for youth employment, reports Al- Qabas daily.
Officials affected by the decision include heads of sectors, directors of departments and supervisors.
Meanwhile, the Minister issued a decision to assign the Deputy Director General of Al-Jahra and Capital Municipalities Faisal Al-Joma’a to manage affairs of the deputy director general of Hawalli and Al-Ahmadi municipalities.
