Agencies KUWAIT CITY, April 18: The Court of Cassation upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeals, which sentenced a Kuwaiti woman to death for killing a fellow compatriot at Sabah Al-Salem after a misunderst­anding.

The case file indicated the defendant allegedly stabbed another Kuwaiti woman to death during a reconcilia­tion meeting between friends. The defendant confessed that she went to the victim’s residence on that fateful day at the instance of the latter who wanted the rift settled amicably.

On the way, she branched at a local market to buy a knife used for the dastard act. Upon arrival at the victim’s apartment, they had a minor argument over pending issues and suddenly attacked the woman with the knife.

She explained that she became hysterical with a fire of revenge, because the victim allegedly incited the husband against her and the man battered her few days to the incident.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeals has upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Twitter user to five-year imprisonme­nt with hard labor for posting words deemed offensive to the entity of His Highness the Amir.

The State Security Department had arrested the suspect who had a perpetual tendency of offending state officials as well as political and social personalit­ies.

According to the case files, the Public Prosecutio­n charged him with insulting and offending the entity of His Highness the Amir through his posts on his Twitter account, and with misusing his mobile phone. The defendant had completely denied these charges.

Bedoun held for mugging: Police have arrested a bedoun for attempting to rob two expatriate­s — an Indian and a Pakistani — at knifepoint, reports Al-Anba daily.

A security source said when the men shouted for help, some pedestrian­s ran to their rescue, wrestled the man to the ground and called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry.

The entire episode was recorded by a CCTV camera from a nearby shop. Citizen held with drug pills: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Mangaf area in possession of “Larika” drug.

According to security sources, Ahmadi securityme­n were patrolling Mangaf area when they suspected a vehicle and ordered the driver to pull over. They asked him for his identifica­tion document; but as the driver was pulling out his wallet, they noticed a sachet of pills fall from his pocket. They checked it to discover they are “Larika” pills.

He was arrested and referred to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a US-made vehicle, which was wanted by law to be seized based on a judicial order, was seized from a parking lot in Ahmadi Governorat­e. Sheep worth KD 5000 stolen: An unknown individual stole 14 sheep from a livestock pen in Wafra area.

According to security sources, a Kuwaiti employee of the National Guard filed a case at Wafra Police Station concerning the theft of 14 sheep.

He revealed that the sheep stolen from his livestock pen cost around KD 5,000.
