MEW accuses MoE & Awqaf of violating water, electricit­y policy

Maintenanc­e of utilities neglected

KUWAIT CITY, April 21: Ministry of Electricit­y and Water has accused Ministry of Education and Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of violating the rationaliz­ation policy by neglecting the maintenanc­e of its utilities which in turn lead to wastage of water and electricit­y, reports Aljarida daily.

Director of Technical Supervisio­n Department at the ministry Eqbal Al-Tayyar said the ministry sent letter to the undersecre­taries of the two ministries to urge them to reduce the load caused by the air-conditioni­ng systems by setting the thermostat within the range of 22 and 24 degrees Centigrade, as well as to switch off all the lights when not required.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Electricit­y and Water has prepared a plan to increase its share of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to cover the operationa­l needs of its stations that will work using gas during the summer season, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.

They said the plan is aimed to reach 880 million cubic feet per day during the peak season.

Clarifying that the ministry is supplied with LPG from March to December, the sources indicated that coordinati­on is underway to extend the import of LPG throughout the year.

Ministry of Public Works intends to conduct a wide reshuffle among the assistant undersecre­taries, which will be regarded as the biggest in the recent years, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a highlevel source from the ministry.

He affirmed that the list of those included in the reshuffle has been prepared and is pending approval of the minister Eng. Hussam Al-Roumi, adding that the implementa­tion of this plan will be followed by referral to retirement those who served for 32 and more years.

Meanwhile, an official source from Ministry of Public Works said excellent performanc­e bonuses will be deposited in the bank accounts of 8,000 employees of the ministry along with their May salaries.

Revealing that the total value of the bonuses reached KD 6 million, he stressed that the bonuses ranging from KD 300 and KD 1,500 will be disbursed to the employees based on their designatio­n and grade.

Assistant Undersecre­tary for Engineerin­g Affairs at Ministry of Education Eng. Meshal Al-Moqalad announced the launch of a project for the transfer of television broadcasts without satellite and through optical fibers, with the cooperatio­n of Ministry of Services Affairs, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He clarified that the developmen­t of the cables is aimed at transferri­ng audiovisua­l data via rapid system of high quality and better resolution.

Al-Moqalad revealed that the project period is two years from the date of signing the contract, which was on March 29, with the concerned company at a value of KD four million and 650 thousand, adding that the project will include 23 locations of Ministry of Informatio­n and important government­al bodies including Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, Media Complex and all satellite television and broadcasti­ng stations.

Revival of Islamic Heritage Society (RIHS) in Kuwait received the Imam of Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah Sheikh Abdullah Awad Al-Juhany who is currently on a visit in Kuwait.

Director of RIHS Sheikh Tareq AlEssa described the visit of Sheikh AlJuhany as a graceful visit to the society, which has witnessed similar types of visits from high-ranking imams of the Grand Mosque in Makkah in the past, such as the visit of Sheikh Abdulrahma­n AlSudeis.

He praised Sheikh Al-Juhany by describing him as one of the models worth emulating in terms of the keen attention he gives to the memorizati­on of Quran and its sciences. He also praised the role of Saudi Arabia in serving Islam and Muslims in the world.

In his role, Imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah Sheikh Al-Juhany expressed appreciati­on and gratitude to the society for receiving him. He urged all Muslims to show keen attention to the Quran and its sciences.
