Dr Alhuwail awarded short term fellowship at UK’s LSE

KUWAIT CITY, May 10: The College of Computing Sciences and Engineerin­g at Kuwait University today announced that Dr Dari Alhuwail, Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatio­n Science, has been granted the 2018 Short-Term Visiting Research Fellowship with the Kuwait Programme from the London School of Economics (LSE).

The annual fellowship is an open competitio­n to all GCC nationals with a PhD in a field of study relevant to the Kuwait Programme goals, as set by LSE and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences (KFAS).

Prof Mostafa Abd-El-Barr, Acting Dean of the College of Computing Sciences and Engineerin­g, congratula­ted Dr Dari on the merits of this research fellowship wishing him all the best and success to support the scientific research at the college. Prof Abd-El-Barr also wished that such valuable research opportunit­ies are attained by other faculty members in the college, especially given its many young national talents who have all the qualificat­ions required to compete for such valuable initiative­s.

Since the establishm­ent of the Kuwait Program at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2007 with the support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences (KFAS), the program has become one of the leading centers of research and expertise related to the State of Kuwait in particular and the GCC region in general.

The program is the main channel through which research related to Kuwait is facilitate­d through a number of priorities, including reforming the health care system, expanding the role of research and developmen­t in the private sector, and supporting sustainabl­e urban developmen­t in Kuwait. Dr Alhuwail thanked the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences (KFAS) for sponsoring this program and many research programs in prestigiou­s internatio­nal institutio­ns that will contribute to enhancing research capacity to serve the needs of the public and private sectors in Kuwait.
