Turk liquor peddler held in Mangaf

Scribe fined for insulting Jarrah

KUWAIT CITY, May 10: A Turkish expatriate was arrested in Mangaf area in possession of 12 bottles of imported liquor.

According to security sources, Ahmadi securityme­n were patrolling Mangaf area when they suspected a Japanese-made vehicle with an occupant parked in a lot in the dark. They approached the driver and checked his details to discover he is a Turkish national. They checked his vehicle based on suspicions and found the 12 liquor bottles.

When questioned, he confessed about his intention to sell the liquor to his clients in the area.

He was arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

The Appeal Circuit of the Misdemeano­r Court ordered the Kuwaiti writer Fouad Al-Hashem to pay fine worth KD 3,000 for abusing and hurting the dignity of Assistant Undersecre­tary of Citizenshi­p and Passports Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah, reports Al-Nahar daily.

The court also demanded referral of the case to the civil court for compensati­on after the defendant was convicted of insulting Sheikh Mazen in several Twitter posts.

Officer attacked:

Five unknown individual­s attacked a 1974-born officer of rank Sergeant Major and his son in Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences in Oyoun area and ran away. A video of the attack went vital on social media.

When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n from the officer about the incident, securityme­n and paramedics rushed to the location. The two victims were taken to Jahra Hospital for treatment. The officer’s son sustained a skull fracture due to which he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. A medical report was issued for the officer and his son.

Investigat­ions have been launched to find and arrest the five suspects.
