Toastmasters Int’l hosts Annual Speech Contest

A perfect mix of education, excellence, fun

KUWAIT CITY, May 10: Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization for public speaking that operates clubs worldwide mainly in English. Division I , District 20 being a part of this organization held its biggest event in Kuwait, under the able leadership of Division I Director TM Fatima Abdullah on April 20, at Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST). The event was supported by the first private university established in Kuwait GUST – (Dr Fahad Al Sumaiti and VP Paul Alloua). GUST provided brilliant seated designed auditorium for speech contest with an excellent equipped peripheral that was the core requirement of the show. The event was also graced with the presence of many dignitaries in District 20 (Bahrain, Kuwait & Qatar) like DTM Mohammed Makhlouf, a renowned dentist in the Ministry of Health. Followed by umpteen steadfast and inspiring leaders from Kuwait and Bahrain whose presence glorified the event.

Division I Annual Speech Contest 2018 was a full day event with the participation from 19 clubs that canopy’s under the 4 Areas. Theme of the occasion was “Leap to Excellence”; the deftly speakers did leap to excellence by not leaving a single stone unturned and enthralled the audience with their marvellous performances. There were 32 contestants battled out in 4 categories (Table Topics, Evaluation, Humorous and International speech). The exuberant event was perfect amalgamation

The event was embellished with the support of more than 40 functionaries who worked shoulder to shoulder to share the responsibilities and add colorful hues to the event. A special mention is needed for DTM Wafaa Salman, a stalwart speaker and a committed leader who have incessantly guided the Division I to be always in a shining and sparkling path. Division I also like to extend its gratitude to TM Rajesh Iyer and TM Raymond Pereira for contributing in an enormous way to the event.
