KUWAIT CITY, May 12, (KUNA): The State of Kuwait has been sparing no efforts to aid needy people, in different forms, in several countries around the globe.
Starting from Beirut, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) delivered food packages to 20,000 Palestinian refugees living in Lebanon, within the framework of an “Iftar (fast-breaking) campaign with the onset of Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Musaed Al-Enezi, representative of KRCS in Lebanon, handed the packages to the Palestinian popular committees’ (PPC) secretary in Lebanon, in the presence of Yousef Al-Mearaj, head of emergency department of the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC).

The PPC’s secretary lauded the Kuwaiti assistance and stances, which support the Palestinian people, noting that this support comes amid a shortage of aid provided by United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Speaking to KUNA in a statement, the Palestinian consul commended positions by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, and the Kuwaiti government and people that support constantly the Palestinian people either inside or outside the country.
“The State of Kuwait has been standing by side our due cause. The Kuwaiti people have spared no efforts in aiding us in all fields,” he said.
He noted that the Palestinian people highly appreciate the State of Kuwait for its supportive stances on both Arab and international levels.

In a statement to KUNA, LRC’s Secretary General George Katana said the aid provided by KRCS is allocated to backing the Syrian refugees and the Lebanese society.
He stressed that there are strategic relations between the two societies — KRCS and LRC — tracing back to 2006.
Al-Enezi affirmed the importance of cooperation between the two societies, so as to offer better services to Syrian refugees and Lebanese people who need help.
He revealed that the KRCS would offer 18,000 Ifrat meals on the occasion of Ramadan to the Syrian refugees and Lebanese families during the month.

In Baghdad, the KRCS delivered two new vehicles to the Iraqi Unified Medical Association for Relief and Development to support its humanitarian efforts for internally displaced persons.
The vehicles were delivered at an official ceremony held at the headquarters of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Baghdad, in the presence of Ambassador Salem AlZamanan. Speaking to KUNA during the ceremony, the ambassador said the two vehicles would contribute to facilitating the association’s mission in supporting (IDPs).
The vehicles and another humanitarian aid come within the framework of Kuwait’s commitment to backing brothers and sisters in Iraq in the humanitarian and relief fields as well as the reconstruction of the country, he added.
He noted that Kuwait was keen to hold talks with Iraq on humanitarian projects across the country, either the projects carried out through the Kuwaiti grant or those, which will be executed through Kuwait’s pledges announced at the conference of reconstructing Iraq.

He said that the two vehicles would contribute to boosting logistic support of the association.
In Erbil, President of Relief Committee at Kuwait Relief Society Jamal Al-Nouri held talks with Kurdistan’s interior Minister Karim Sinjari Monday on means of providing support for displaced Iraqis in Iraq’s Northern Province.
Al-Nouri, speaking to KUNA following the meeting, said they discussed conditions of displaced people in Iraq’s Kurdistan region in the wake of the liberation of Mosul from so-called Islamic State (IS).
He explained many displaced returned to their homes but others could not make it, so they need support.
Al-Nouri said his delegation and Sinjari discussed potential projects in the region. Sinjari, he added, thanked Kuwait for relentless support over the past two years.
